Application Procedures
Applications are to be made on the prescribed form to the Admission and Records Unit, Centre for Postgraduate Studies (CPS).

A complete application package should consist of the following items:
• A complete, signed application form.
• 4 passport sized photographs of the applicant.
• 2 certified copies of passport (Include all stamped pages and the validity date of the passport).
• Certified copy of:
o Bachelor Degree and Transcript (compulsory to all Postgraduate applicants)
o Master Degree and Transcript (applicable to application for PhD Programme)

GRADING SYSTEM
Please ensure that your academic transcript contains the grading system used to enable us to evaluate your academic qualification. In the event that the mode of your previous degree is by research only, please provide a certification letter from the university indicating that the mode of the programme is by research and hence no CGPA or % is applicable in the full academic transcript
All certificates must be certified true copies. If your certificates are in a language other than English and Bahasa Melayu, an English version translated by a certified translator are required. Both copies (original version and translated version) shall be submitted to the CPS.
• Evidence of English Proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS)
• Reports of two (2) academic referees.
• Recommendation letter from an Islamic organization, community leader or imam (preferable an IIUM representative) in the applicant’s country of residence.
• A non-refundable application processing fee of RM75.00 or USD25.00 in the form of a bank draft, money order or postal order, payable to “Executive Director, Finance Division, International Islamic University Malaysia”
• Documentary evidence of the applicant’s ability to cover tuition, accommocation, food, medical and other expenses for the total duration of the programme.
• Preliminary Research Proposal (applicable to application for Master’s (by research) and all PhDs programme)

Deadline
The deadline for submission of admission application forms for all international applicants is as follows:

Any application forms received after the deadline will be processed for the next intake.
In the event that your application is submitted after the deadline for the particular intake and you would like to register in the said intake, a payment of RM600 must be prepared in advance for the Journey Performed Visa. You will also need to inform CPS in writing and the office will process your application provided that you support your application with the required documents.
The university reserves the right to approve your admission into a programme that is academically suitable for you.
Please be reminded that the university is not responsible for your accommodation should you arrived earlier than the date of enrolment as per stated in your offer letter.

ARABIC LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT

Ø If deemed necessary by the department, a student pursuing a programme with English as a medium of instruction may be required to attain a minimum score in Arabic before being allowed to register for his research
Ø If deemed necessary by the department, a student may be required to achieve satisfactory level of proficiency in any other language that is relevant to his research work before being allowed to register for his research
LANGUAGE PLACEMENT TEST
The English Placement Test (EPT)/Arabic Placement Test (APT) will be conducted during the first week of the orientation programme. Failure in attending this test might restrict you to successfully enroll as IIUM postgraduate students.
EXEMPTION FROM LANGUAGE REQUIREMENT/LANGUAGE PLACEMENT TEST
Ø Exemption may be given to the following students:
o English Language:
a. Students who have undertaken regular programmes of studies and graduated from universities that use English as the medium of instruction in English-speaking countries (recognized by IIUM: United Kingdom, United States of America, Australia, New Zealand and Canada); or
b. Who have graduated from IIUM in a programme with English as the medium of instruction.
o Arabic Language:
a. Students who have undertaken regular programmes of studies and graduated from universities that use Arabic as the medium of instruction in Arabic-speaking countries (recognized by IIUM); or
b. Who have graduated from IIUM in a programme with Arabic as the medium of instruction.
SPECIAL LANGUAGE PROGRAMME
Ø A student who does not achieve the required scores will have an option to enroll in a Special Language programme for Postgraduates for a maximum of two (2) years prior to his admission into Postgraduate programmes. In such cases, the student will not be allowed to register for any courses of the Postgraduate programme.

VALIDITY OF THE OFFER OF ADMISSION
Ø An offer of admission issued to an applicant who does not satisfy the conditions stipulated in the above table shall remain valid for a period of two (2) years. Failure to attain the required scores in TOEFL, IELTS, EPT or APT within the two (2) years shall result in the automatic withdrawal of the offer of admission.

ACCEPTANCE OF APPLICATION
• An applicant wishing to enter a graduate programme at the IIUM must submit an appropriate, completed application form with all the required supporting documents to the Centre for Postgraduate Studies (CPS) within the period of time stipulated by the CPS for a specific intake. (more...)

ISSUANCE OF OFFER LETTER
• A letter of acceptance (offer letter) and all relevant information will be sent to the successful candidate.

ACCEPTANCE/REJECTION OF OFFER
• If the candidate fails, within the specific period, to ENROLL or to REGISTER for the semester in which he was accepted, the offer will lapse unless he made a deferment. (Download)
TIME OF ENROLMENT
• A candidate must enrol into the Unversity before the commencement of classes in his first semester of study, within a period specifiec by CPS. Failure to enrol in the specifiec period may result in the withdrawal of the offer of admission by the University.
DEFERMENT OF ENROLMENT
• A student who has been issued an offer of admission to pursue his postgraduate studies at the IIUM may apply to defer his enrolment for a maximum of one (1) academic year subject to approval from the Student Admission Committee (SAC)
• Should the SAC reject such an application, the student shall be required to enrol on the date originally set by the CPS. Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of the offer of admission. (Download)
